The average person spends around 12 years of their life physically working. That’s a lot of time.
When it comes to work, many of us ignore posture, comfort, mental health, and as a result, our well-being in the office dwindles drastically.
Now, at HumbleWorks, our mission is to provide ways to increase personal well-being at every level, but more specifically, in the workplace. After all, 12 years is a long time, a long time indeed.
We’re a fresh thinking and proactive collective of designers dedicated to designing and indeed, making wooden standing desks and laptop stands that are not only sustainable and look good, but make people’s work life better. That’s the bottom line for us.

Why is well-being in the office so important?
Well, because we spend 70% of the average day working.
It doesn’t matter what you do for a living, where you work or what kind of person you are, whether you’re a freelancer, a budding entrepreneur, a junior at a multinational company, or anything else for that matter, chances are at times you work too much, and work too hard.
In this fast-paced and often cutthroat modern world, it’s hard not to work intensively, especially when we love our job, but all too often our working habits and workplace non-existing ergonomics let us down, resulting in physical and mental health complications as we grow older.
But small changes, such as considering well-being at work a priority, can make a big difference.
Now, we’re not talking about task and time distribution, delegation or achievement; we’re talking about promoting healthy working habits, improving posture when working, self-maintenance, and remaining alert and productive in a healthy way.
All of us at HumbleWorks suffered at the hands of long hours and poor working habits which is why we started the company in the first place. Realising there was something we could do to make a change, we set about designing and creating eco-friendly and portable products to help enhance people’s working lives and improve their wellbeing while working anywhere.
By looking at the co-working spaces in which we operated, places including small offices and packed coffee shops, and understanding what the root of the problem, we understood that sitting down cramped up for long periods was a common issue for all of us. How can I improve my productivity and wellbeing while I'm working?
Of course, eating well, regular exercise, walking, cycling, regular screen breaks, good posture while using the computer and enjoying our indulgences in moderation will help boost our health and enhance our working lives.
But, as mentioned, working standing up is often overlooked but if you’re a reasonably fit self-motivated person, you should try it – we’re almost certain you’ll see positive results within weeks.
According to expert cardiologist Martha Grogan, sedentary lifestyles increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Apparently, or people who sit most of the day, their risk of heart attack is about the same as smoking. Woah.
Appropiate ergonomics at the officec and working standing up can help prevent this from happening.
According to a recent study, adjustable sit-to-stand products are an effective solution for reducing prolonged sitting. You can instantaneously sit or stand as you choose while remaining effectively engaged with your PC or laptop, resulting in a healthier work life. What’s more, standing is said to be as effective as walking. It increases energy, burns extra calories, tones muscles, improves posture, increases blood flow and ramps up metabolism.
Standing up at work may sound challenging but much like any other habit, it will become natural over time, and the benefit of adapting the healthy trend of working standing up is just amazing.
